The first Gash Bell game playable for PS2. Well, some of you might recognize this game as Zatch Bell. They do, make a change for the name when brought to USA. Whatever, that's not my concern. But for your information, so far Gash Bell has been made into 4 game for PS2 in total, and unfortunately, we got only 2 game translated in English.
If you ever played Zatch Bell: Mamodo Fight, that is actually called Gash Bell: Yuujou Tag Battle 2 in Japan. So, now you can imagine what kind of battle game is this one. This is the preqiel, and also the first, like I told you earlier. The story is about a demon boy, Gash, who ended teamed up with Kiyomaro and fight with other demon in order to become king of the demon world. All the game has the same story, of course, and it would be better for you to seek the manga or the anime if you interested to know more about the story.
In story mode, you will play as Gash. The control is simple, which you can punch, kick, or cast a spell easily. You may not control the book keeper, but if they got an attack or down to the ground, you can't cast a spell for a while, so be really careful with your partner condition. Also, the game provide ultimate attack for each demon in an interesting way, in my opinion. You can only cast this ultimate spell once, since it will take very great energy from the book keeper, and you can strengthen the spell by entering a correct pattern of button pads, such as X,O, or square. Your enemy, in comparison, can strengthen their defense when you cast this, by doing the same pattern. That is the best part of this game, I think. The other is nothing special, just like a usual fighting game, but at least, you can see many of your favorite characters from Gash Bell fighting and casting a spell here.
